Shorinkan Karate

Sensei Shugoro Nakazato created the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan association in 1975. This association was created with the help of Sensei Noel Smith and others, OBI Karate School in Virginia beach was the first member Dojo.  Since its birth, the Shorinkan assocation has grown from one Dojo to thousands of dojos world wide.  It is one of the largest Okinawan karate associations with the sole goal to preserve the original intent and teachings of Sensei Choshin Chibana.  The style of Karate taught by Shorinkan Dojos is called Shorin-ryu, so named by Sensei Choshin Chabana who rename Shurie-te in 1928.
